Dynamic Offset for Text Effects
In a recent Inkscape Forum Challenge, a participant named @jobot did a Goldilocks image with a nice-looking use of dynamic offset with text, inspiring me to try some examples on my own.
Basic Steps
- Enter text (The font matters)
- Choose font appropriate to the text subject
- Duplicate text (change color for visibility)
- Convert to path
- Combine the text/path to make all letters into one path
- Apply Dynamic Offset and drag handle to eliminate voids
- Move copy/offset to bottom
- Adjust
- Add colors and stroke as desired
Fonts Used:
Goldilocks: Basteleur
Housebound: Call of Opps Duty
Planetfall: Blambot Bulletproof
While the default result, with even offset all around is good, you can get an enhanced shadow effect by shifting the lower, expanded, path.
