Hidden Characters - Microsoft Word 97.
While you type a document in Word, you will often tap the spacebar more than you intended or put extra enter codes (carriage return characters) at the ends of lines in the middle of a paragraph. Normally you don't see these characters/codes. They are normally hidden.
When you are editing, it is often helpful to be able to see what you have used as hidden characters.
Find the toolbar (usually at the top of the screen) and locate the button that has the paragraph symbol on it.
When you click that button with the mouse, you will see the hidden characters that show where you have typed spaces, tabs, paragraph marks, etc.
The tab is the arrow.
Spaces are dots between words.
