## MassCUE Governing Board Minutes October 12, 1990

### Sheraton Lincoln, Worcester

**Board members present**: Martin Huntley, Gail Ross McBride, Earle Hancock, Laura Peterson, Laurene Belisle, Linda Colvin, Algot Runeman 

Martin Huntley called the meeting to order at 5:25

Resignation - Everett McCassey submitted a letter of resignation to Martin, stating personal reasons made it necessary.  Martin told us that he had expressed his regret that we have lost Mac as a board member.  The rest of us will miss you too, Mac.

Treasurer's report  - $12,415.80 preconference balance is good in everyone's opinion. Leadership final report cost $14,171 with an income of $15,525, a net gain of $ $1,354.00 except that the figures. do not include printing expenses. T-Shirts will be ready 10/18/90 We have been billed for buttons (Algot will have them for the conf.), **Moved and seconded to accept (Earle, Linda seconded) Passed 7/0** 

Conference planning report - as of today 172 people are registered for Friday. and 160 for Saturday, 88 for dinner on Friday. Equipment is OK. Keep workshops open a while longer.  Only 2 are full. (Ryder and Plati) Flier OK for Educator Advantage (approved by C. Larson) at the Mac product rollout. 

Vendor report - Ample table space - 62 paid tables and six more to be near the registration area. Orchard has not paid as of today. We offered BCS a table but we've not had any advertising which was an expectation we had of them for the table, although it was not specified as a condition. Vendor situation terrific, very healthy. 55 rooms sold in hotel We need to book 75 rooms to have hotel free. "Under superb control", Providing Alan Kay a limo for the day - Who is giving social protocol for keynotes? Martin will do introductions. Alan [November] will do Alan Kay introduction. Ron Fortunato arriving late Friday. Art Bardige - Earle? -Thanks on Friday for Alan (award) 

Next meeting - General business meeting at Minuteman Tech in Lexington (thanks Earle). 

Issues: Bylaws, Retreat planning, Leadership (Charlie), Where are we going?, Mission statement.

**Moved and seconded to appoint Pauline LaMarche to the board (Gail, Earle seconded)** Hard worker, excellent skills, desire to be on board. **Passed 6/0**
